Who is the real JD Hayworth?

I pity Hayworth. It must be tough to be a candidate for office who has taken such a hard line on the immigration issue, who has specifically condemned anything called "amnesty", yet who is actually on record as specifically voting for an amnesty program FOUR TIMES.

I can't imagine what kind of fevered, twisted thinking Hayworth has to engage in to reconcile these kind of diametrically opposed views. To simply call it hypocrisy doesn't seem to quite capture the depth and breadth of it. Is it a kind of schizophrenia? Or does he just imagine that voters are so stupid that he can say anything and get away with it, regardless of the truth?
