Flake and Hayworth rank 140 and 142 respectively

The new Congressional Power Rankings have been released by the nonpartisan Congress.org and they aren't all that flattering to our two local US Representatives.

Basing the evaluations of relative power on metrics such as committee positions, bills and so forth, the rating places Jeff Flake at 140 and JD Hayworth at 142 out of all members of Congress. Not all that impressive.

It seems quite likely that, no matter what happens in AZ's races, the House of Representatives, at least, will be shifting to Democratic control in November. All the indications are there for a major shift. When this happens, Hayworth and Flake will suddenly find themselves in the minority party. And then, their political power will plummet from their already not-so-stellar height to bargain-basement levels.

(Of course, if we were to elect Harry Mitchell to Congress, then Representative Mitchell would be in the majority party.)

By the way, Senator McCain ranks as #3 among the hundred Senators. Which could be an argument for why Arizonans would be better off if McCain did NOT run for President, but continued to represent Arizona in the Senate.
