East Valley Trib gets it wrong on Mitchell and Red-to-Blue.

In an article appearing today, the East Valley Tribune repeats a now-debunked error about Harry Mitchell (candidate for US Rep in Arizona's CD5) and the DCCC's Red-to-Blue fundraising program.

As covered earlier on this blog, the postponing of Mitchell's participation in the Red-to-Blue fundraiser was, according to the DCCC, only for one donor. Mitchell is still in the first phase of fundraising overall.

Aside from the error, it's interesting to note that the EV Trib article is nearly a week late in posting this. I generally like the Trib, but it's not an encouraging sign when a paper is so late on a story AND fails to correct itself, though the correction has been known for several days.

Still, I was encouraged to hear this from the Mitchell campaign:

“(Hayworth) will raise a lot of money and he’ll spend a lot of money, but we’re going to try to match him dollar for dollar and run an aggressive and tough campaign,” Scott said.

Mitchell has spent the early part of his race fundraising, assembling a campaign team and campaigning, Scott said.

“You’ll see him be a little bit more public in the next couple of weeks. He’s just going to be getting out there and talking about the issues and doing events that probably are larger than he has the past few weeks,” he said.
