City names interim manager to replace Pentz

Chandler’s most closely watched political drama continued April 27 with the City Council’s official selection of ousted city manager Mark Pentz’ interim replacement.

At a sometimes contentious meeting between residents and their civic leaders, and at moments between the leaders themselves, Assistant City Manager Rich Dlugas was named to assume Mr. Pentz’ duties until a permanent replacement is recruited.

Mr. Dlugas, a native of Elmhurst ,Ill. , was hired by the city in 1994 to serve as its community services director. He was promoted to assistant city manager in March 2002.
