Three politics and development links today for my Chandler neighbors:

1. Chandler council appears ready to OK City Hall site

Chandler won't be trading its ostrich statues for a Windy City logo, but it looks like the $51 million City Hall will go up on Chicago Street and Arizona Avenue.

The site selection vote is Thursday, but council members informally agreed to the location at a study session Monday. This unexpected consensus came only weeks after some council members questioned a consultant's recommendation and sought more information about an alternate site southeast of Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.

2. HOAs want involved residents - Conference seeks to motivate homeowners to take part

I thought this was classic. When invited to speak to the conference on pressing issues related to HOA and neighborhood involvement, "Rep. J.D. Hayworth gave a keynote speech, which focused primarily on his re-election ambitions and immigration rather than neighborhoods issues."

What a piece of work.

Anyway, I've been looking forward to getting involved with my HOA and neighborhood issues in August when my schedule will allow it.

3. Chandler getting brokerage - Prudential Properties plans regional operations center

The real estate brokerage Prudential Arizona Properties, which has nine locations in the Valley, is opening a regional operations center in south Chandler.

The company is increasing its corporate relocation business, and the June 5 move will put it closer to Honeywell, Motorola and Intel.
