I'm not too worried about Mitchell's first speech being light on specifics. That's what kickoffs are all about, after all, so he achieved what was needed. There's a lot of time in which to define the message and most folks aren't even paying attention until September. Mitchell is a seasoned public servant and I have no doubt he's on top of it. [Update: Tim Wilson blogs his thoughts on this here.]
2. Linda Wiewiorkiewicz has an April 7th article discussing the good work of an interesting East Valley community service organization called Community Counts, founded by Kathy Shamley.
Kudos to you, Kathy, and to all the kids, parents and others that contribute their time, money and effort to helping out. It's a great way to help folks, build the community and teach kids about giving back as part of developing their social conscience. [Update: Kathy responds to my letter, here.]
